How can an dance party in the middle of the street bring about safety improvements in a
neighborhood?
You've probably heard about or seen The Crossings, a social spectacle that pops-up at dangerous intersections to bring awareness of pedestrian & cyclists safety. They've performed it in East Liberty & Lawrenceville, and are now bringing it to Bloomfield in our most feared intersection - the Bloomfield Bridge!
The Crossings: Bloomfield is a social action spectacle that brings awareness to the pedestrian challenges of the Liberty Avenue and Main Street intersection at the Bloomfield Bridge. This large and complicated intersection has seen many close-call collisions, and residents have expressed a need to make it more pedestrian-friendly, particularly for those who may require more time to cross such as young children and the elderly.
That’s where the Crossings: Bloomfield comes in. This 2-hour event will demonstrate first-hand the danger of crossing the intersection at the gateway of Bloomfield by playing music, dressing in costumes, and “putting on a show” for drivers, residents, government officials and media.
