Stoops represent the spirit of a true American city. Whether in the form of a porch, steps, or a lawn, Stoops mark the public / private connection between the American family and their communities and neighbors. Essentially, Stoops are the in-between space between the public sidewalk and the private front door. Here in Bloomfield, you can find all types of Stoops!
Below, we celebrate the various Stoops that can be found right here in Bloomfield! How many do you know of?
THE DOOR
These stoops are elusive, but look closely and you’ll find them. Sometimes, they are just a simple threshold. These stoops can be found along Friendship Ave. & Taylor St.
THE STEPS
Much like their distant cousins the Doors, these stoops are also small in size, but plenty in number. In fact, these stoops are the most common ones you’ll find in Bloomfield. Just look along Pearl St. & Corday Way.
THE PORCH
These Stoops tend to gather around the less dense areas of Bloomfield. Sometimes, they are adorned with hanging flower pots or comfy chairs. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness some American grilling going on. These Stoops can be found on Sciota St.
THE LAWN
These are the rarest, but also most spacious, Stoops. These Stoops are Porches which have spilled out onto a green lawn, extending its reach before hitting the public sidewalk. These Stoops are perfect for a game of bocce ball, Slip ‘N Slides, or sunbathing.
